VERB
Verb may tell us what a person or thing does, what is done to a person or thing, what a person or thing is
PRESENT TENSE
The present tense is a grammatical tense that locates a situation or event in present time.
Example: He goes to school
Example: He goes to school
PAST
The past tense is a grammatical tense that places an action or situation in the past of the current moment
Example: He went to school yesterday
Example: He went to school yesterday
ACTIVE & PASSIVE VOICE
Example 1; I wash my clothes every evening (active). The clothes are washed by me every evening (passive). [present tense]
Example 2; Amani wrote a letter yesterday (active). A letter was written by Amani yesterday (passive).[past tense]
Example 3; Catherine draws a picture (active). The picture has been drawn by Catherine (passive). [present perfect tense]
Example 4; Runita cooked salad (active). The salad is been cooked by Runita (passive). [past perfect tense]
SUBJECT VERB AGREEMENT
The verb in sentence must agree with the verb.
A singular subject must take a singular verb. Example: a student learns Arabic Language
A plural subject must take a plural verb. Example: students learn Arabic Language

POSITIVE & NEGATIVE VERB
Positive statement – sentence that tells about someone/something
that is true & can be done
Example:
Amin is a boy
Catherine buys a new dress
Aishveena owns a kitten
Negative statement – sentence that tells about someone/something
that is false & cannot be done.
Example:
Amin is not a boy
Catherine does not buy a new dress
Aishveena does not own a kitten
Changing positive statement to negative statement – adding the
word ‘not’
Positive: Amani writes a novel
